来,入蛇坑:哥本哈根的重击手Mama Snake将首次在中国释放出她斯莱特林techno和trance。TAG去年在Organik上遇到了Mama Snake(本名Sara Svanholm),该音乐节由台湾techno厂牌Smoke Machine承办,是一场为期三天的田园诗般的音乐狂欢。
可能是新春音乐节最独特的阵容之一,“蛇妈妈”将与西瓜女郎本人Yu Su一同加入!这位备受喜爱的制片人带着她的阳光声和高扬的积极态度在夜晚拉开帷幕,去年她中国巡演首次亮相TAG,今年新春再次回归。充满活力的二人组Meng Meng和Mouna Press从北京风尘而来,在Hidden Bar治愈大家受过的蛇伤。是的,话先放这儿了!

Enter the snake pit: Copenhagen heavy hitter Mama Snake is set to unleash her slithering techno and trance in China for the first time. TAG first met Mama Snake (real name Sara Svanholm) at Organik last year, an idyllic three-day festival organised by Taiwan techno label Smoke Machine.
In one of the most unique line ups of the festival, Mama Snake will be joined by the Watermelon Woman herself, Yu Su! Bringing her sunshine sounds and upbeat positivity to kick off the night, the beloved producer joins us again off the back of her China tour last year. Joining us from the capital, dynamic duo Meng Meng and Mouna Press are on duty in the Hidden Bar to treat any venomous snake bites. You have been warned.

Following their tenth anniversary tour, we are thrilled to welcome back Smoke Machine to celebrate Spring Festival once more, having hosted artists including Barker, Diskonnected and Blind Observatory in Chengdu over the past year and putting the TAG fog machine to work.

MAMA SNAKE BOILER ROOM

Mama Snake独爱旋律,既温暖节拍明快之音,为她在电子音乐世界舞台佔了一席位,包括柏林Berghain、阿姆斯特丹De School、伦敦Corsica Studios和东京Contact,还有各个大型音乐节都是她的游乐场,2020年,她将会继续冒险之旅。

Her love of melodic, warm and fast paced sounds has secured a steady following in the world of electronic music and Snake’s no bullshit and fun approach to DJing has brought her to clubs around the world such as Berghain (Berlin, DE), De School (Amsterdam, NL), Corsica Studios (London, UK) and Contact (Tokyo, JP) to name a few as well as several highly respected festivals around the world, with even more exciting adventures ahead for 2020 and onwards – as both a newly hatched doctor and slithering decks controller.

Mama Snake首次引起人们的关注时还是哥本哈根现已解散的Apeiron Crew乐队成员之一。现在她以成熟音乐技巧进入了Techno领域:响尾蛇的拍子和情感合成器,通过不被察觉的混合而结合在一起。她水密式紧凑的混音很快让她在网络上积累了大量追随者。

Mama Snake first garnered attention as a DJ as part of Copenhagen's now disbanded Apeiron Crew. She entered the techno scene with a fully formed sound: rattlesnake beats and emotional synths tied together by imperceptible mixing. Her watertight online mixes quickly earned her a following.

Recorded right after her first 15 hour night shift at the hospital, this 90-minute mix serves as a cinematic introduction to her sound, fusing '90s trance with crisply produced 140 BPM modern techno. For those who have been following Mama Snake for a while, it'll be no surprise that she rounds out this mix with a breakbeat edit of Sonique's "It Feels So Good." Ahead of playing there in August of 2017, she told De School's blog that her goal as a DJ "is to get the crowd to fall in love with the tracks that I'm already in love with and take them somewhere they might not expect." It's an attitude reflective of the Danish scene as a whole, which often takes trance records that might seem unpalatable, and transforms them by couching them in a modern context.

问:你最近在做什么呢?

What have you been up to recently?

适应全职工作的生活方式,减少外出活动,更多地参与音乐以外的领域。现在这是一个难题。弄清楚涉及哪些事情以及该放弃什么,以便有能力做对的事情。我们生活在白人异性恋男性占主导的世界中,这仍然让我非常疲倦,这是我和朋友之间进行大量辩论的原因。这不是最近,但显然仍然有意义去探讨,在此情此景下释放这个mix,并不是一件容易的事,但是HWFG(here we fucking go)。非直男非白人人群需要承受的可笑的事情太多了。

Settling into a new way of life with a full-time job, less going out and more involvement in areas beyond music. It's a puzzle right now. Figuring out which things to be involved in and what to let go of in order to have the capacity to do the things that feel right.The white, heterosexual male dominated world we live in still makes me pretty tired and is the cause of a lot of debates among my friends. That's not recent, but obviously still relevant and something I want to address, which isn't very easy in the context of putting out this mix, but HWFG. The idiotic things anyone, who is not a straight, white guy, still has to put up with are unreal.

 不努力走向一个更具包容性的世界,只关注自身利益,尤其是在音乐界,那些借口老派,过时且可笑。特权盲目性仍然渗透着,我感到非常沮丧。最近,我在话题接不下去的时候改进了很多,例如,当某人说些无意义的事情时,例如“我们重视质量而不是性别”,或“不要性别歧视/种族歧视/同志恐惧,我们“是有良好意图的好人,但是我们必须卖票/炒作/ [插入任何与business商业思维相关的最终目标]”等等,例子不胜枚举。很难进行这样的对话,许多人直接进入防御模式,然后什么都没有改变。如果某人认为自己没有做错任何事情,那么很难使他们参与变革。结果是,不听取意见,也不为那些小众人发声,这仍然是一个问题。

The excuses for not working towards a more inclusive world and paying attention to one's own privileges, especially in the music industry, are old school, outdated and fucking ridiculous. It's still permeated by privilege blindness, which I find really frustrating. Recently I have become a bit better at staying with the uncomfortable awkwardness that arises when you speak up, for instance when someone says something senseless like, "We book quality over gender" or, "It's not to be sexist/racist/homophobic, we're good people with good intentions, but we have to sell tickets/follow the hype/[insert any lame business-mindset related end goal]" and so on—the list of examples is endless. It's hard to have these conversations, many people head straight into defence mode and then nothing changes. It's hard to make someone engage in change if they believe they do nothing wrong. Not listening to and not giving voice to those who are massively underrepresented remains an issue as the result.

I've lost patience within some areas and realised that for me to properly apply myself I needed to regroup, turn frustration into action. Seems like more people are starting to realise that things need to change, and to drive that change you need to actually do shit and recognise your own responsibility. I'm trying to stay optimistic. Still tired though, or as we say in Danish: træt af pis ¯_(?)_/¯

How do you find the balance between your work as a doctor and your life as a touring DJ? Do the two play into each other?

好吧,我还不完全知道。我猜这两个世界都由大量的夜间活动组成,但是,一个明显的区别是我在医院的同事们是清醒的(希望如此)哈哈。当医生的工作具有内在的意义,这给了我很大的目标感。这也是一个需要对自己能做什么和不能做什么完全诚实的职业,并在需要时寻求帮助。每个人都在努力帮助他人,而您永不停止学习。这是我很喜欢的地方。

Well, I don't exactly know yet. I guess both worlds consist of a significant amount of nighttime affairs—however, a pretty noticeable difference is that my colleagues at the hospital are sober (hopefully) haha. There is some inherent meaningfulness in working as a doctor that gives me a great sense of purpose. It's also a profession where you need to be completely honest about what you can and cannot do and ask for help when you need it. Everyone is working towards helping others and you never stop learning. It's pretty… sick.

Working towards becoming an orthopaedic surgeon/body carpenter, developing and playing around with Amniote Editions with everyone on the team and figuring out how to properly apply myself and others towards a more sustainable way of doing things in general—and that's not going to be easy and will probably involve a lot of mistakes and trial-and-error along the way. Onwards and upwards, right?

YU SU

苏玉 (Yu Su),是一位生于开封,高中后移居加拿大温哥华的DJ, 作曲家,及声音艺术家。在不同城市的生活经历, 让她具有了对中西文化的不同理解。作为一名多年研习钢琴的独立电子音乐人,通过对德彪西印象派音乐的理解,她能充分捕捉到自然界那最微妙之声,并将它与复杂的电子合成音效中达到一种幽静的平和,营造出她那细腻且富有情感的 氛围,以及对于自己东方身份的凝思。

Kaifeng-born, Vancouver based Yu Su works as a composer, DJ, and sound artist. Tapping into an expansive repertoire of “fourth world” ambience and left-field dance music, Yu Su’s emotion-packed compositional punches are her truthful approach to the ambiguity and self-reflection of “the Oriental”.

今年8月,Yu Su 在荷兰Dekmental音乐节演出,10月,Yu Su在墨尔本的音乐节 Sugar Mountain 里献上了在 Boiler Room 的首秀,作为国际上寥寥无几的中国音乐人之一崭露头角。她的唱片,电台节目,和现场演出多次入选 Resident Advisor,Pitchfork,Mixmag,DJ Mag 等权威音乐网站的排行推荐,其中她的作品《Little Birds, Moonbath》被权威电子音乐网络杂志Residen Advisor评为“2019年最佳单曲”,并受邀参加明年于克罗地亚举行的 Love International,摩洛哥的 Beat Hotel 和布鲁塞尔 Listen Festival 等多个音乐节。这次她将首次加入到我们一年一度的春节阵容!

A proficient instrumentalist who conjures up moments of natural and synthetic beauty, her delicate, dub-inflected signature balances a variety of luminous downtempo textures with a purpose of. She is responsible for productions on DC’s People’s Potential Unlimited, NYC’s RVNG Intl. & Arcane, Music From Memory imprint Second Circle, and Ninja Tune imprint Technicolor. Praised for her diverse and emotive sets as a DJ, she has been touring across Europe, the US Asia, and most recently Australia in recent years, with stops in 2019 at Dekmantel, Off-Sonar, Nuits Sonores, Kala and more.
